Infrastructure is an essential element in the development of society. Keeping that in mind, since its inception, Pinarayi Vijayan Government focused on taking the infrastructure facilities of the states to new heights. The government could accomplish many dream projects during its first four years in power, and they could garner the trust and cooperation of the people in the implementation of every project.

Kannur International Airport is an epitome of the determination and the capability of the government to realise massive projects that require state-of-the-art processes of development. After the completion of this project, Kerala has become the only Indian state with four international airports. The new airport will contribute heavily to the development of the northern region of Kerala.

Kochi Metro project was lurching under the rule of the previous government due to many administrational issues. However the government led by Pinarayi Vijaya was able to overcome those hurdles effectively and complete the initial phases of the project successfully. The work of Kochi Water Metro is also in a progressing stage and expected to be finished in November 2020. 78 boats will be deployed for providing transportation in a route of 76km length.

National highway development reached new heights under his rule. With political will and the consent of the people, the government could get over the land acquisition issues, and thus, the highway development has got a new boost in the state. The 4-lane development of NH 47 and 17 from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram is progressing and expected to be finished soon.

K-Rail is another ambitious project taken up by the government. It is a joint venture between the Government of Kerala and the Ministry of Railways – Government of India, to revolutionize the very concept of travel in Kerala. K-Rail will lend a new dimension to the railway infrastructure in Kerala with its super-fast, safe rail services, which will not only make intra-state travel easy and convenient for millions but also help fast-track the socio-economic development of the State – especially the less developed regions.

The National Waterway is another huge project taken up by the government. The total length of the waterway is 599 Km and it stretches from Kovalam to Bekal. The first phase of the project will be finished this year.

This endeavour to revolutionise the transportation infrastructure will make a huge impact on the development of the state.
